Sevmorzavod and Sevastopol State University Will Work Together on Digital Design

Sevastopol State University and Sevmorzavod State Unitary Enterprise will cooperate in the new sphere of technology for Russian shipbuilding - digital design and modeling.

The parties agreed this at the meeting of the administration of the specialized department of Innovative Shipbuilding and Technologies of Offshore Development of Sevastopol State University with the representatives of Sevmorzavod and the company Top Systems, the developer of the software CAD T-Flex.

CAD T-Flex - the computer-aided design system developed by Top Systems, combines the parametric capabilities of 2D and 3D modeling. It is intended for creating drawings of parts and assemblies, preparation of control programs for CNC (computer numerical control) machines and engineering calculations, as well as for design documentation.

“Sevmorzavod is planning to move to a new level of digitalization - to create a digital enterprise based on CAD T-Flex", said Veronika Dushko, head of the specialized department of Innovative Shipbuilding and Technologies of Offshore Development.

"The central design bureau,Chernomorets, became a part of Sevmorzavod ", and we face the task of providing technological support of the production complex of the design and engineering center with a modern computer-aided design system. We are starting a large project to transfer archive materials to a digital format", said Georgy Ivanov, first deputy director of Sevmorzavod.

According to Veronika Dushko, the Department  of Innovative Shipbuilding and Technologies of Offshore Development, “is the only one in the Crimea and Sevastopol, whose programme includes the module ‘Digital Design and Modeling’. The department already uses the T-Flex platform to solve the tasks of the life cycle and management nature of the Pioneer-M project.

The management of Sevmorzavod expects to equip workstations with T-Flex software in the near future, after which, the employees of the enterprise will be trained at Sevastopol State University.
Chernomorets also plans to launch a training programme for its engineering personnel at Sevastopol State University.

"In our work, we also use integrated product lifecycle management systems and we will involve university colleagues and students in this work during all its stages", said Georgy Ivanov.
