The floating crane ‘PK-400’ ‘Sevastopol’ was Launched in Sevastopol
On the 10th of October, the Rector of Sevastopol State University, Vladimir Nechaev, the Directors of the Maritime Institute at Sevastopol State University and students at the Department of Ocean Engineering and Shipbuilding, took part in a ceremony to launch the ‘PK-400’ floating crane ‘Sevastopol’ at the Sevastopol Marine Plant (‘Sevmorzavod’) that is a branch of the Ship Repair Centre ‘Zvezdochka’ (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation).
On November 24, 2017, employees and students of the university became participants in the laying down of the crane.
During the past two years, students of the Maritime Institute participated in the construction of the ‘PK-400’ ‘Sevastopol’ during practical training at the Department of Marine Technology that was jointly created by Sevastopol State University and ‘Sevmorzavod’. “During this time, students were able to master professional competencies, and many of them plan to find a job at the enterprise after they graduate. The enterprise plans to implement new projects involving our students both at the design stage and at the stage of construction of new offshore facilities”, said Dmitry Burkov, Director of the Maritime Institute.
