The Fight Against Financial Terrorism was Discussed at an International Conference at MEPhI

A team of students and teachers from the Department of Finance and Credit of Sevastopol State University took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference of the International Network Institute in the field of combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism ‘CML/FT System in the Global World: Risks and Threats to the Global Economy’.

The conference was organized by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service in co-operation with the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and the International Training Center for Financial Monitoring. Five hundred and eighteen participants from 20 countries participated in the conference.The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Kotyukov, the Director of Rosfinmonitoring, Yuri Chikhanchin and the First Deputy Chairman of the Financial Market Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Igor Divinsky all took part too.

The most interesting thing for students was the opening of the Student Financial Intelligence Laboratory on the site of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI. The event was aimed at increasing students' expertise and interest in the fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction”, said Sergei Tarasenko, Head of the Department of Finance and Credit at Sevastopol State University.

Representatives of Kyrgyz financial intelligence expressed their gratitude to the staff of the Department of Finance and Credit for the professional training of one of their employees – who is now the leading specialist of the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Kyrgyz Republic.
